Regular treatments such as a hair mask once a week and a hot oil treatment once a month will make sure that your hair is well moisturized and help with fading. Another great way to prevent fading is to use hair products that contain sun protection so that the sun does not fade your hair.
Bleaching is most useful when you want to go from a dark hair color to a light one. But it is a harsh process that can cause irreparable damage and breakage to the hair shaft. Unlike tints, bleach remains activated, meaning that the longer it stays on the hair the more damage it will cause. Therefore, bleaching should always be performed by a professional who watches closely and evaluates at all times what is actually happening inside the hair.
When it comes to coloring your hair you can either do it yourself at home, or for a fuss-free professional result, visit a salon. If you decide to go for a salon color there are a few questions that you need to ask before booking the appointment, such as:
Those with a yellow or golden skin undertone have a warm skin tone. Hair colors that have a warm overtone will generally look natural and much better on you. This color rule also extends to make-up, accessories, and clothing - hence the importance of getting it correct!
Regular trims will keep your color looking fresh and will get rid of any damaged or faded ends. When your ends are trimmed regularly your hair will look healthier which in turn will make your color stand out.
There are of course some exceptions where combinations of warm and cool hair colors can be used together in various techniques for contrast or specific purposes, but this should be left to the care of highly trained hair colorists only.
Use this type of color if you want to cover up grey 100%, you want to go a lighter shade, or you just want a hair color that will last and will not wash-out. Pros and Cons? Permanent hair color, even high-lift color, is generally safe to use because it goes inert after 30 minutes and will not over-process. The only real downside is that when your hair grows the roots will need to be touched up on an ongoing basis. Also, reversing the color can be quite difficult.
